戍 — frontier guard, defend (grapheme component)

Person (人) with a halberd (戈) — standing guard at the frontier. Distinct from 戊 (5th heavenly stem) and 戌 (dog branch) by the small dot inside. Component of 威 (intimidate), 幾 (how many), 蔑 (despise).
